Midge Soft Hackle Emerger
Midge hatches can be prolific and produce a lot of fish on small tiny dry flies, or they can be just brutally frustrating. This pattern is deadly fished solo on a drift and swing. Fish seem to obliterate it on the swing more often than not. That is the magic of fishing soft hackles. Tying small soft hackles for these small flies can be challenging though as most hackle is not small enough to tie them with. Here we show you a technique for tying in over sized hackle to get a nice clean soft hackle. We absolutely love to drop this behind a size 18-20 Purple Haze to fish both a dry midge, and a trailing soft hackle emerger, This has been an absolute deadly combination for us. If you are tired of those pesky refusals make sure to add this pattern, and the combo into your arsenal.
