Purple Haze Dry Fly
The Purple Haze fly pattern is one of the most popular and used flies fished in the west. It is a must have pattern to have in your fly box, and is an exceptional general Mayfly attractor pattern. This fly was created by Andy Carlson, and been an absolute trout slayer since than. The pattern is originally tied using purple floss as a substitute for grey dubbing on a Parachute Adams. We prefer to tie it with a quill body segmentation look and feel, and create a split tail to better imitate a Mayfly. We will fish this pattern in sizes ranging from a sz 10 all the way to a size 22 to imitate midge patterns as well. It can be fished to imitate a Mayfly, or as a searching attractor pattern with great success. We highly recommend having these in your boxes ready to go. Make sure to watch our video to see a quick, easy, and durable way to finish your parachutes without whip finishing it.
