Dark Prince Nymph Soft Hackle
The Dark Prince is a version of the Prince Nymph that is a well established iconic fly pattern in every fly bin, and most peoples boxes. With this variation we use an all black theme with peacock herl substitute by Semperfli, red wire rib, and fluoro red hot spot collar and butt. We tie it as a soft hackle, which from our experience actually makes them more effective bringing the fly to life on a dead drift. Our legs with the biots is a little unique when compared to the traditional pattern, but adds depth and realism to the fly, as well as keeping a cleaner look. This pattern is more durable with the herl substitute, and very fast to tie. We went with black because the color black holds its color better than any other color, rivaled only by the color purple as it descends into the depths of the water. The hot spots will draw attention to the fly as well. We Hope you enjoy tying this pattern as well.
