Great Rod For Most People
The 12ft length and soft action make the Shadowfire 365 a great rod for most purposes. It is a great choice for small streams to rivers where the fish are mostly under 18 inches and as small as 4 inches. The Shadowfire rod can handle larger fish than 18 inches, depending on your Tenkara fighting skills but it is not really a big fish rod.

Smooth Casting
The soft smooth casting action of this Tenkara rod with very very low oscillation will help you cast more naturally and accurately. If you are using level line, you will want size #3 or #3.5 for best performance but it will cast smaller sizes if desired. It will also cast any furled lines or tapered lines with ease.

Premium Rod Flex
The improved flex of this rod balances out the pressure nicely throughout the rod sections to eliminate hinging or points of pressure when fighting fish. This is something you would expect out of an expensive rod but you get it at a much less expensive price.

Comfortable Handle Shape
We designed our handle to fit the hand more comfortably to reduce hand fatigue and to give you more casting control. The classic camel double hump shape gives you many options to grip it in many different positions to accommodate your preference. This is the new smaller handle like the Mutant rod has.

Non-Reflective Sections
The matte black color of all the rod sections, except the handle/logo section, keeps the rod from reflecting the sun light and possibly alerting the fish of your presence. This is something that Tom Davis influenced us to do and it is preferred by many Tenkara anglers.

Premium Knitted Rod Sock
The rod sock is a soft knitted material that looks great and is thick enough to provide padded protection, for those times when you who prefer to leave the hard case behind. It is super easy and fast to remove and put away your rod without messing with silly strings or velcro flaps.

Both Tip Cap Styles
You get Both a regular wood/rubber tip cap and the universal tip cap, so you can use the one you prefer and keep the other one as a backup.

The New Shadowfire 365 Big Improvement from old Shadowfire 360
Many people loved our old Shadowfire 360 model but this new Shadowfire 365 model is in a league much higher. Here are some of the improvements that make this new 365 model much better than just another intermediate rod.

  • Softer flex with improved flex distribution through the whole rod.
  • Lighter swing weight for greatly reduced tip heaviness.
  • Updated and more appealing look/graphics.
  • Increased durability and strength without increasing the weight.

First ever Tenkara fish

Just caught my first ever Tenkara fish on a dragon fire. 16 inch rainbow trout, what a blast, I'm hooked for life. I can't tell you how much fun it was. I love this rod!

The Perfect Rod

I have been researching tenkara fishing for at least a year. I love to fish and was looking for something to get back to the basics without all the gear. I have not had a chance to try this yet. Even unpacking this I could see that it was of good quality. I'm excited to get out and give it a whirl once the ice melts. I will update this review once I've had a chance to try it. For now I can say it looks like the perfect rod for me to start my tenkara adventures.

A Solid Rod!

I once heard the Shadowfire 365 be described as the equivalent of a standard 9' 5wt Western fly rod in regards to the rod's ability to just do everything well. (I couldn't agree more with that statement). The rod may not have the coolest technology to write home about (such as the fiberglass blend of the Kaida), but it doesn't need to. The Shadowfire is a solid rod that casts well, catches trout, and doesn't break the bank. What more do you need?

Shadowfire 365 is great!

I have been western fly fishing for over 35 years. I saw a Tenkara video and thought it may be a great fit for some small native trout streams near me. The Shadowfire 365 shipped quickly and is exactly as advertised. I started with my regular flies but have now started tying Kebari flies. This is the most fun I have had fishing in years! Great gear and a great company to deal with!

Great Experience

This was my first Tenkara rod, but it was an awesome experience. Shipping was quick and the product itself was as expected. The rod felt great and I was able to be effective with it almost immediately. It is late fall here, so fish are hit or miss. I was able to catch quite a few blue gill and thoroughly enjoy my time on the pond! I am ready for spring.
