Royal Wolf Lodge

Strategically located on 120 acres of private wilderness in the heart of Katmai National Park’s finest trout water, Royal Wolf Lodge is one of Alaska’s finest fly-out operations. Idyllically set overlooking a private lake, Royal Wolf’s guests enjoy private cabins, short flying times to the region’s premier watersheds, an impeccable safety record, and some of Alaska’s most experienced and productive guides. Royal Wolf Lodge Fishing:

Royal Wolf Lodge fishes all of the premier waters of the greater Iliamna/Katmai region of Bristol Bay. These water include Moraine Creek, Battle Creek, Kulik River, Brooks River, the American River as well several costal systems and one trophy trout fishery that is under private lease. While all five species of pacific salmon, artic char, Dolly Varden, and grayling abound in these waters, Royal Wolf is first and foremost dedicated to providing their clientele with the unparalleled trophy rainbow fishing. Short daily fly-outs in well-maintained floatplanes take anglers to the stream where they will access the water by raft, jet boat or foot. Royal Wolf also has some of the state’s most experienced and productive guides.

Royal Wolf Lodge Accommodations:

Royal Wolf lodge can accommodate 12 guests in their tasteful cabins overlooking their private lake. All cabins have heat, private baths and comfortable beds. Meals are served in the main lodge.

Royal Wolf Lodge Travel:

Most anglers will choose to arrive in Anchorage on Thursday night to aid in making a simple connection to the lodge at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. If you feel that you make it to Anchorage before noon on Friday, overnight accommodations will not be needed.

We recommend the following accommodations in Anchorage:

Millennium Hotel: This is a popular, medium priced opperation located on Lake Hood near the airport. (800) 544-0553 or (907) 243-2300.

Exectutive Suite Hotel:

This is another mid-range hotel located rather near the airport. It is clean and comfortable, offers free airport shuttle service and runs from $135-$235 per night. Revervations, (800) 770-6366 or front desk (907) 243-6366.

Captain Cook:

This the classic downdown Alaskan Hotel. Centrally located for those intertested in exploring Anchorage, the Cook’s rooms run from $250 to $1,500 per night. (800) 843-1950

The Puffin Inn:

This is an inexpensive yet adequate operation that is located near the airport and offers free shuttle service to an from the airport. Rooms run from $119 to $139 per night. Reservations: (800) 478-3346 or front desk (907) 243-4044.

Guests arrive and depart Royal Wolf Lodge on Fridays. Most guests take a scheduled charter flight coordinated by Royal Wolf Lodge (meaning your name will be on the passenger list unless otherwise specified). The flight orginates at the Signature Flight Support Building (3600 West International Airport Road) attached to the Anchorage Airport. A free shuttle can take you there from the main treminal. The 45 minute flight will take you to the village of Igiugig. The nine seat charter is run by Iliamna Air Taxi (907) 243-4328. The flight departs Anchorage at 1:30 PM, arriving in Igiugig at 2:30 p.m. The departure from Igiugig back to Anchorage will be at 10:30 a.m., arriving in Anchorage at 11:30 a.m. While not included in the package price, the roughly $450 flight can be paid for in check or cash at the end of your stay with Royal Wolf.


Transportation from Igiugig to the lodge and the return to Igiugig, daily fly-outs, (weather permitting) personal guides, and/or pilot, use of boats and rafts, instruction, all meals, complimentary wine or beer, and all soft drinks.

Not Included:

Airfare to and from Igiugig ($450 round trip from Anchorage, payable in check or cash at the end of your stay), staff gratuities, fishing licenses, flies (this is a fixed $50 flat fee for all the flies that you will need, and while it is an option, we strongly recommend it!) and hard alcohol.
