In the far Northeastern corner of Oregon a special steelhead river flows. Some have described it as a small Deschutes, others as a tiny replica of the Thompson. In any case, it is a river that quietly captures the souls and imaginations of all who fish it. For many a seasoned rod, it is held like a secret, buried deep in the bag of tricks. And in late autumn when the leaves have fallen brown, these anglers draw upon its bounty sparingly and with reverence, and it is good.
The Grande Ronde, a remarkably scenic, pristine, and productive desert stream is ideally suited to small floating expeditions.
