From early morning caddis to mid-day mayflies to late afternoon stonefly hatches, the Smith River provides you some of the most beautiful and challenging dry fly fishing in Montana. As you drift along this historical river you will cast to big browns and highly aerobatic rainbows. Needless to say your equipment needs to cover the range of flies that are hatching. There really is only one way to fish this river and that is dry flies, therefore we suggest you be prepared for which ever hatch Mother Nature throws at you, so we suggest bringing as much equipment as possible so that you are prepared for all of the conditions you will experience. We’ve truly tried to keep the list simple and effective.
